CISSP Study Plan: How to Prepare in 90 Days

A practical 90-day CISSP study plan covering the eight domains, practice questions, review and mock exams.

Preparing for the CISSP is easier when the workload is turned into a repeatable weekly system. This plan uses three cycles: learn, practice and simulate.

Days 1–30: build the map

Study the eight CISSP domains in order, but do not wait until the end to answer questions. At the end of each study block, write down the decision rules that distinguish similar concepts.

Aim for consistent sessions rather than marathon weekends. A useful baseline is five study sessions each week, with one lighter review day.

Days 31–60: convert knowledge into decisions

The CISSP tests judgment more than isolated definitions. Mix domains in your practice sessions and review every incorrect answer. Ask which risk, business or governance constraint changed the best answer.

Track weak domains separately from topics you simply have not seen recently. They require different review strategies.

Days 61–90: practise exam endurance

Use full mock exams under timed conditions during the final month. Review the reasoning behind missed questions, then return to the relevant domain lesson rather than memorising the option letter.

Keep the final week light: short reviews, sleep, logistics and confidence are more useful than attempting to learn an entire new domain.
